Santorini
This morning, we departed for the city in the sky at 6:00 AM. We had a 4:00-hour drive back to Athens Airport, but we arrived early to avoid being late. We needed to return our rental car and store our large luggage at the airport. Since we only had three days there, we packed our essentials into a carry-on suitcase and boarded our flight to Santorini at 1:30 PM. After landing in Santorini, we needed to pick up our rental car and then drop off our luggage at our hotel. Since we still had half a day, we planned a short visit to the town of Fira.
Transportation to other parts of the island generally begins in Fira. What are some of the attractions in Fira? If there are truly interesting attractions in Fira, it would probably be the old port, the donkey trails, and the Fira cable car! However, most visitors to Santorini still enjoy shopping. Fira's main street is bustling with people and traffic, lined with restaurants, beverage shops, and a variety of shops selling everything from gifts to clothing and decorations. The biggest attraction is of course walking along the winding paths along the mountainside, admiring the blue sky and sea, scattered islands, white houses, blue-domed churches, etc., allowing people to experience the romantic and leisurely Greek style.
