Tran Quoc Pagoda

Situated on a tranquil island in West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda is Hanoi's oldest Buddhist temple, renowned for its long history, exquisite architecture, and serene atmosphere. Perched atop a hill, Tran Quoc Pagoda's striking red pagodas and exquisite temple architecture are beautifully reflected in the blue sky and the rippling lake. The harmonious blend of nature and architecture makes Tran Quoc Pagoda not only a sacred place but also one of Hanoi's most captivating landmarks. The architectural heritage of Tran Quoc Pagoda is renowned for its ancient Buddhist architectural style, harmonious layout, exquisite carvings, and sacred solemnity. The Bao Thap Stupa, an eleven-story pagoda built in 1998, is the most striking structure of Cheng Kok Temple, standing 15 meters tall. Its symmetrical design, adorned with intricately carved lotus patterns, symbolizes spiritual enlightenment. Each level features six arched windows, each enshrining a meticulously carved Amitabha Buddha statue made of precious gemstones, totaling 66 statues. The pagoda is topped with a nine-tiered lotus pedestal, also made of gemstones, symbolizing spiritual ascension. The pagoda stands in harmony with the sacred Bodhi tree, a gift from Indian President Rajendra Prasad in 1959. This Bodhi tree was propagated from the original Zelkova tree in Bodh Gaya, where the Buddha attained enlightenment, further enhancing the spiritual significance of this architectural masterpiece.

Tran Quoc Pagoda in Hanoi is located beside West Lake. The pagoda has a Bodhi tree, cut from the Bodhi tree from which Shakyamuni attained enlightenment in Bodh Gaya, India. It was a gift from Indian President Rajendra Prasad during his visit in 1959.

The Front Hall is the main entrance to Tran Quoc Pagoda, welcoming visitors into this sacred place.
