Osteria Conchetta

Osteria Conchetta is a Lombardy dish (Milan is part of the Lombardia region). It's best known for its rich, rich risotto, cooked directly in a giant cheese bun. Their artichoke risotto is also incredibly delicious; artichokes are a common vegetable in Italian cuisine. Their extra-thick steak (a full 350g) is incredibly filling and tender, and comes with an artichoke dip. Milanese must-try dishes: 1. Cotoletta; 2. Ossobuco (Veal) + Risotto alla Milanese (Risotto alla Milanese); and Tiramisu.

We'd already planned to go to Milan for risotto, and the restaurant was called Osteria Conchetta. However, a careless Google search turned out to be Osteria del Gnocco Fritto. Since the two restaurants are not far from each other and both start with "Osteris," we ended up mistaking them for the wrong restaurant. We even hired a taxi to take us there, and we went along with it.

Gnocco Fritto is a traditional Emilia-Lombardy specialty, with its name varying depending on the region. In Modena and Reggio Emilia, it's commonly called "Gnocco Fritto," but in Bologna, it's called "Crescentina," and in Parma, it's called "Torta Fritta." This delicious dish, made with a simple mixture of water, flour, yeast, and lard, remained a staple of the local cuisine until the 1960s.

Because we found the wrong restaurant on the first day and were disappointed, we checked the address and went again on the second day. This time we found the restaurant we were looking for, Osteria Conchetta. There were no tables because we didn't make a reservation, but we were lucky. The restaurant gave us a table so we could enjoy the meal to the fullest.

While exploring Milan's main attractions that day, we made a point to stop by Store Lavazza - Milano, Italy's second-largest coffee flagship store, for lunch. They offer exquisite, refreshing pastries and rich coffee. The coffee is delicious (I tried passion fruit mousse, cappuccino, and iced coffee) and fresh pastries. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Highly recommended if you enjoy good coffee.
