Lavender Excursion
The cruise's final stop was Marseille, France. During our stay, we were able to explore the city and, fortunately, take a lavender tour. Knowing we'd arrive on June 15th, we booked a private minibus tour for a day exploring the lavender fields of Provence. The best time to visit a lavender farm is typically mid-June to mid-July, when the lavender blooms. The fields take on a vibrant purple hue, and the fragrance reaches its peak. However, the exact time varies depending on the location and lavender variety.
Thankfully, we were lucky enough to be there at the beginning of the season. This kind of guided tour hadn't been offered before. Our guide was incredibly entertaining and, despite being a French native, spoke fluent English. We were joined by a German family who also shared a passion for lavender. They were very approachable, so we felt completely at ease. The guide also had their own hidden gems, places you wouldn't normally find on an independent trip.
