Oslo Opera House
The Oslo Opera House, located right by the harbor, features a sloping white facade that appears to rise from the water. Year-round, visitors are invited to climb its roof for panoramic views of Oslo and the fjord. Large windows at street level offer glimpses into rehearsals and workshops. The interior, clad primarily in oak, features a horseshoe-shaped main hall, reminiscent of classical theaters of the past. Designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta, the opera house has won numerous prestigious awards.
The Norwegian National Opera and Ballet presents a diverse program across three stages: the Main Hall (1,369 seats), the Second Hall (400 seats), and the Studio Hall (200 seats). Concerts are also held on the opera house's rooftop and foyer. Oslo Opera House is one of Norway's most impressive examples of contemporary architecture and is renowned for its role as a venue for world-class opera and ballet performances.
