Rigi Mountain
I was delighted to stay at my cousin's apartment in Zug on my arrival in Switzerland. The next day, she, her husband, and their children drove us to the nearby tourist destination of Rigi Mountain. Known as the "Queen of the Mountains," Rigi Mountain is located in the heart of Switzerland. Accessing it by boat or mountain railway is an experience in itself. After reaching the summit, you can enjoy panoramic hikes and healthy walks at Rigi Kaltbad. Additionally, you can take part in excellent excursions in the surrounding areas of Lucerne and Lake Lucerne.
Rigi Mountain is located in central Switzerland, nestled between Lake Lucerne, Lake Zug, and Lake Lauerz. With its easy access and abundant recreational activities, it's one of Switzerland's most popular hiking destinations.
One peak, nine routes: No other mountain in Switzerland can be accessed from so many locations. You can reach Rigi Kaltbad from Vitznau by cogwheel railway, from Weggis by cable car, or to the Seebodenalp panoramic terrace from Küssnacht. The real highlights here are the historic train rides: for example, the Lok 7 from Vitznau, the world's only functioning rack and pinion steam locomotive.
