Lysefjor Fjord Cruise and Hike to the Famous Preikestolen

The Lysefjorden (Norwegian: Lysefjorden) is a fjord located in southwestern Norway, in the town of Forsand in Rogaland County, approximately 25 kilometers east of Stavanger. With a nearly vertical drop of over 1,000 meters from the rock to the water, it stretches 42 kilometers and is a popular tourist attraction in Norway. The best time to visit the Lysefjorden is generally between June and September, when the sunshine is long, the temperatures are relatively warm, the snow on the mountains melts, the vegetation flourishes, and the winds are relatively light, making it the perfect time to enjoy the fjord's scenery. The most convenient way to explore the Lysefjord is to take the ferry from Stavanger's Fiskepiren Ferry Terminal to Tau (peak season, mid-April to September, with 12 departures daily from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, and 10-11 departures on Saturdays and Sundays). First, explore the fjord, taking in sights like Preikestolen Rock and Henjahn Waterfall. On the return trip, the ferry stops at Oanes, where visitors can climb Preikestolen Rock and follow the official hiking route to its summit for breathtaking views of the fjord. The round-trip hike takes about four hours. Afterward, take a bus to Tau, where you can board the ferry back to Stavanger for around 450 kroner.
