Cat Cat Village (Cát Cát)
is a village of the Black Hmong ethnic group. Located southwest of Sa Pa, it's very close to the town and is the closest of all the nearby Black Hmong villages. In the early days of Vietnam as a French colony, Cat Cat Village was a French summer resort. Three streams converge to form a waterfall called CatScat, hence the name Cat Cat Village. Both CatScat and Cat Cat are likely pronunciations from the Hmong language. Many Chinese speakers now translate the village name literally as "Cat Cat Village," but it has absolutely nothing to do with cats (Sen77, I want a refund!).
There is an entrance fee to Cat Cat Village. The natural scenery is beautiful, but unfortunately, in recent years it has become somewhat like a "Disneyland" to cater to tourists. Most of the original Hehmon people who lived here have moved outside the village, and now this place is mainly for tourism.《貓貓村》Cat Cat Village (Cát Cát)
