Since the ground was covered in snow, we took advantage of the afternoon after checking into our hotel to visit the Hverir geothermal area. Visibility was extremely low, so we could only see a short distance ahead. Many tour buses carrying groups of tourists were disappointed.
Thankfully, we stayed two nights at Lake Mývatn. The weather cleared the next day, and the scenery was a world apart. Such a scene is truly rare to encounter. The mountains, piled with blood-white snow, were absolutely stunning when the sun shone. Snow on the lower mountains is truly rare.
The Hverir geothermal area, located in northern Iceland, is adjacent to Grjötagja Cave, the Myvatn hot springs, and the crater lake Viti. Its terrain and landscape are truly unique, with hot smoke and a pungent sulfur smell rising from the air. Locals have a saying: "If you never get to go to Mars, come experience it at the Hverir geothermal area."
The following two photos show a foggy scene, and the other shows a clear sky a day later. What a difference! Thank God for allowing us to spend two days at Lake Myvatn. If it were only one day, I would be beating my chest!

Oh my god! I can only see a few feet ahead.
Panorama
This photo is a panorama. With advancements in technology, iPhones can now capture this type of photo. We usually need to take 2-4 overlapping photos and then use imaging software to create the image. It's quite laborious, but the result is still better than with an iPhone.
