Flam Fjord

The Sognefjord is a must-see for tourists from all over the world visiting the Norwegian fjords. It's also the highlight of our entire trip, a microcosm of Norway. Fjord, the ferry company we took, uses electric boats, making them silent and eco-friendly, and the boats are quite spacious. I've seen some tour groups take smaller, less-sightly-designed boats, but you really get what you pay for. Fjord's itinerary includes stops at Aurland and Undredal, as well as waterfalls. Fjord's ships offer more outdoor space. While the entire voyage is spectacular, the highlight is the final hour of sailing through the Naerofjord, the world's narrowest fjord. We disembark at Gudvangen, where we'll take a bus and then a train to Bergen.

The Sognefjord has many branches, two of which, the Nærøyfjord and the Geirangerfjord, are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites for their unique topography and stunning scenery. Fugem is located right on the Nærøyfjord. The town is so small that you can visit most of its attractions in half a day.
