Skogafoss, located in southern Iceland, is approximately 25 meters wide and 60 meters high, making it the most spectacular waterfall in Iceland. Due to its immense height, the Skógá River upstream is filled with high water, causing Skogafoss to cascade down from its height, emitting a massive spray of water. On clear days, with the right angle of sunlight, a lucky couple can create a double rainbow, earning it the nickname "Rainbow Falls." The sky turns blue, making it an especially beautiful photo opportunity.
Since the falls are not crowded, it's a great opportunity to capture long-lasting photos. Skogafoss is one of Iceland's largest waterfalls. As you walk down from the parking lot, you can hear the rumbling sound of the waterfall from afar.
This popular filming location for the movie "The Adventures of the Daydreamer" features lush green mountains on either side, a rainbow woven through the landscape, and the pure white waterfall cascading down at its end. Boom! It's not just the ears that are shocked, the soul is moved beyond words. The three elements complement each other to create a beautiful scene, which cannot be rivaled.
There were a lot of people taking photos at the bottom of the waterfall. I started setting up my equipment and waiting for everything to be ready. Miraculously, there was no one in sight. I took this great opportunity to quickly take some long exposure photos.
The 527 steps leading to the top of Skógafoss Waterfall in southern Iceland are a daunting climb that can take 45 minutes to an hour, especially in winter when the steps can be slippery. Some say the climb is worth it because of the beautiful views of the top of the waterfall and the canyon from the metal footbridge.
